The LivingWorks ASIST Experience
- LivingWorks ASIST is a two-day in-person workshop featuring powerful audiovisuals, discussions, and simulations.
- At a LivingWorks ASIST workshop, you'll learn how to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide, and how to provide a skilled intervention and develop a safety plan with the person to connect them to further support.
- You will also consider how personal and community attitudes about suicide affect someone's openness to seek help and your ability to provide it.
- This workshop will increase your willingness, confidence, and capacity to provide suicide first aid. Two knowledgeable, supportive trainers will guide you through the course, ensuring a comfortable and safe learning environment.
This internationally recognized training, valued at $350, is a fantastic opportunity for professional development.
Even if you haven't completed the SafeTALK training, you're still welcome and encouraged to attend.
Upon completion of the workshop you will receive a LivingWorks ASIST Certificate

Currently enrolled VIU students: Free
VIU staff and faculty: Free
VIU Alumni: $200
General Public: $300
Credit cards accepted include VISA and MASTERCARD only
EVENT REGISTRATION CANCELLATION
To cancel registration for this event, email CEL@viu.ca. Note that cancellations may be made at any time; however, cancellations made on or after February 16, 2026 will not be eligible for a refund.
Event cancellations will be processed within 1 to 2 business days following receipt of the cancellation request email.
REFUNDS
Amounts of less than $15 are not eligible for refunds.
Registrants that cancel prior to the cancellation refund deadline date listed above can expect the refund to show in their account from 3 to 5 days following refund processing depending on your credit card providers policies and processes.
If you are eligible for a refund following the cancellation request, you will be notified by email once the refund process has been completed and an updated registration receipt showing the refund processing date and transaction ID will be attached to the email.
